Charity Football for ReachoutA team of from the restaurants recently entered the ReachOut! Charity Cup 2012- a 5-a-side football tournament organised by 13 and 14 year old boys from Hackney to raise funds to subsidise their trip to Spain with local mentoring charity ReachOut!
Every week, along with 150 other young people, these boys attend the ReachOut! Academy, where they complete an hour of academic work before taking part in football training. They also each have a ReachOut! mentor to provide advice, help them with their studies and be an inspiration.
We donated £500 towards the trip as well as a meal at Opera Tavern. For more information about ReachOut! or to get involved as a mentor please visit www.reachoutuk.org

Sustainable Restaurant Association
Salt Yard is pleased to have joined the Sustainable Restaurant Association, a not for profit organisation helping restaurants to become more sustainable and community orientated.
As part of our membership we have pledged to source our fish from sustainable sources, recycle more and support a local charity.
We have switched fish suppliers to two companies dedicated to sourcing sustainable fish and where possible from British waters. In the Autumn we hope to start sourcing daily specials direct from Cornish dayboats.
We have started using 100% recycled menu paper and have begun to recycle all our paper
We are fundraising for local charity The House of St Barnabas (www.hosb.org.uk) a Soho charity dedicated to rehabilitating homeless people with an emphasis on hospitality and work placements. An optional £1 is added to customers’ bills and we hope to raise over £12,000 this year. If you would like any further information get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org

Andrew has previously worked at the Anchor and Hope in Waterloo, was head chef at the Swan in West Malling and Chez Kristof in Hammersmith. His training and experience may be French and British but he has converted to Salt Yard’s Spanish and Italian cuisine. He enjoys slow cooking and featuring secondary cuts when he can in his dishes.
